Great I already have that book but have only used it as a reference. In fact I was just eyeing it across the room 2 nights ago thinking I should bust it out. Great selection 🙂
My first ever canning project is going to be pickles!
I’m looking to try a little bit of everything this year… jams, preserves, pickles, relish but I’m also wanting to experiment with making my own bloody mary mix (picked veggies and all) and some fruit shrubs for drinks!
Ooh! That book looks awesome! I want to make jelly with some homemade boysenberry juice… is in my fridge and I need to do something with it stat.
Yay!!! Another giveaway 🙂 I always end up wasting fruit especially when I purchase in bulk so I’m looking forward to learning some new ways to can those leftovers. I’m hoping there will be some future posts about canning veggies as well – with my garden up and running, I don’t want to waste a single pea.
I love to can and am always looking for new recipes. I just made apricot with rosemary jam and it gave me a whole new appreciation for rosemary.
We are trying pickles this year; 🙂
Sour cherry preserves
Loved the video. Kimchee is on my summer list.
My favorite thing to preserve is strawberry jam! Love using it for all sorts of things from toast to desserts.
This summer my goal is to make blueberry jam!
What is not on my list this year?! I did a small amount of canning last year and became obsessed. This year I am excited for blueberry jam, tomato sauce, mixed veggie pickles for tacos, canned peaches, and pepper jelly of course!!!Some of these I have done before but I am excited to learn more this year! Your video was definitely inspiring!!
Canning in general is our goal this summer; there’s so much to explore! We’re not growing fruits yet, except for lemons.
Been wanting to learn how to do this!
Our cherry tree is fruiting for the first time this year. We’d love to find a tasty way to make preserved from it!!
Still in love with saurkraut from when we were reading and cooking “The Homemade Pantry” and would love love love to put up some salsa this summer.
I’m excited to make some jam this year! I’ve made lots of fruit butters in the past, so in ready to move onto something different!
This summer I want to make cucumber pickles. I can never seem to grow enough cukes for a batch.
I am excited to do something with peaches. Nothing beats peaches in Feb to help you get through the long (long)winter.
just in time for strawberries!
I want to try something new, other than jam, such as a curd. Sherri’s 5 spice plum sauce sounds delicious!
Moving into a house with cherry trees, and could use some preservation ideas!
As the fresh fruits (and vegetables) become available I want to learn how to preserve these delights to enjoy into the cold hard winter
I think I am going to love this book!
YaY, I have her first book and looking forward to this new venture of her second. I taught myself to make jam and carry the tradition in making raspberry jam from Mom’s raspberry bushes. This will be my 4th year canning. Looking forward to canning some other fruits and to play along again with FSC members. 🙂
Welcome back, cuz!
🙂
Very happy that this is our book selection — particularly because it means my cousin Sue (Morelli) will be re-joining us! 🙂
love and hugs ❤ 🙂 Glad you are aboard too!
I can’t wait to can this summer!
I’m making pickled garlic scapes tomorrow! Also looking forward to peach jam later this summer.
Thninikg like that shows an expert’s touch
I just started canning memorial day weekend and am very excited to join the book club and see where this new read takes me.
I am going to make cherries in an amaretto syrup to put over ice cream in the winter. I have never tried canning salsa but I might give it a try.
I got canning supplies for Mother’s Day. I can’t wait to give it a try – tomato sauce, pickles and jam!
Oooh I would LOVE to win a copy! So excited to try new recipes this summer and fall!
KK
I took a canning class last fall and loved it, but never got my schtuff together enough to try it at home. I need some additional inspiration from the experts! 😉
Oh boy have I fallen off the book club wagon, lol.
Book trailers are a great idea! Sherrie Brooks is a girl after my own heart, I’m looking forward to the book. And how awesome would it be to win it? Very.
And how did you know about my secret maraschino cherry fixation? That’s the special one for me this summer!
Hope everyone’s having a great pre-summer.
Canning is a huge part of my summer routine. Pickles, applesauce, peaches, tomato sauce – you name it. New to me this year will be salsa.
Thanks for such a great giveaway!
For me, canning is so.ething I watched my grandparents do… From a distance. I was never allowed in the kitchen while the gooseberry jam was being made- I think because of all the hot things: tools, pots, berries, water. But I absolutely LOVED gooseberry jam on my toast, in my cream of wheat and even on ice cream. If it isn’t to let science, as she says, then maybe, just maybe, I can learn to make some heavenly preserves myself.
I love to can. I love to see the jars lined up of beautiful food available to eat, give as gifts, or to swap. I don’t have anything specific that I am hoping to can this year. I just want to see what comes my way.
I am on the hunt to find jam recipes with less sugar. I kills me to add almost equal amounts of sugar to fruit. Our house loved black and blue jam!
I got my canning kit for Christmas last year — would love to figure out how to break it in!
